This week, Google announced that it is making major changes to the way we write emails and unveiled an all-new "compose experience." In the new system, a blank email will appear as a pop-up on top of your inbox, just like a Gchat window. This will allow greater access to old emails that you might need to reference as you write the new one and easier monitoring of the inbox as new emails arrive.
There are also upgrades for responding to messages, which include scaling to fit content and always keeping the address bar visible.
A preview of the new features is available now and will be enabled for all users in the coming months.
