Chris Christie Can’t Stop Praising Obama for Hurricane Sandy Efforts

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is known for saying whatever’s on his mind. Unfortunately for Mitt Romney and his campaign, that includes effusive praise for President Obama and FEMA on their response to Hurricane Sandy.

On Tuesday morning TV appearances, the Republican governor and vocal Romney supporter called the administration “wonderful” and FEMA “excellent” for their efforts to coordinate disaster relief. Christie, who noted that he spoke with the president three times on Monday, also took to Twitter, writing: “I want to thank the President personally for all his assistance as we recover from the storm.”

New Jersey was particularly hard hit by the storm, as evidenced by stark photos of Atlantic City underwater, its historic boardwalk washed away.

With the presidential election just a week away, Sandy also has high political stakes for both Obama and Romney. So far, Romney has declined to criticize the administration’s response.
