Rising hip-hop star Lil Reese is not backing down after a Twitter explosion over a video that shows him beating a woman in an apartment.
In the low-quality mobile phone video, a woman confronts the rapper and defensively pushes him away before he begins brutally punching her against a wall.
A favored son of the Chicago rap scene known for his song “Traffic,” Lil Reese was defiant, tweeting that the video was “from years ago” and an attempt to bring him down as his fame rises. He offered no apology or explanation.
Though some fans on Twitter expressed outrage, many others shrugged off the video and defended the rapper, who spent much of the night re-tweeting well-wishes. And Lil Reese’s record label, Def Jam, had no comment.
