As all eyes move to the vice-presidential debate between Paul Ryan and Joe Biden on Thursday, at least one person isn’t done criticizing President Obama’s disappointing debate performance last week: President Obama himself.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Los Angeles that included performances by Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Jennifer Hudson, and Jon Bon Jovi, Obama praised the musicians and singers for how they deliver flawless performances night after night. He then joked, “I can’t always say the same,” a reference to his panned showing against Mitt Romney in the first debate.
Saturday Night Live also dined on the Obama fail over the weekend, including a “Weekend Update” segment in which Seth Meyers declared: “Well, you’ve got to hand it to Mitt Romney, because President Obama sure did.”
A new Gallup poll conducted after the debate showed Romney has erased Obama’s lead among registered voters, while an overwhelming 72 percent of voters said he had won the debate. Obama and Romney will hold their second of three debates next week.
