It appears Google has a sense of humor. The tech giant has opened its Mountain View campus to Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson for filming of The Internship, which tells the story of two guys in their 40s who get laid off and try to make it as interns in Silicon Valley. Exterior scenes were filmed in and around Google headquarters this week.
According to the Wall Street Journal’s AllThingsD, Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt interviewed Vaughan for an employee talk, and numerous Googlers, including Android developer Hugo Barra, appeared as extras in the film.
Google issued a statement expressing excitement about hosting Vaughn and Wilson for their first project together since The Wedding Crashers. Now the company has to hope that when the movie premieres next year the laugh isn’t on them.
