First Nicki Minaj went south, then Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and now Mitt Romney has apparently lost Kanye, too. The hip-hop star has just released a new single “To the World” that has a line that sounds like it was written by the Obama campaign opp-research team.
At the conclusion of one verse, West raps, “Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax. Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax”.
With that dig, Kanye effectively joins the chorus of Romney watchers who want him to release his tax records. While refusing to make public his returns, the GOP nominee insists he has never paid less than a 13-percent tax rate in the last decade.
Kanye’s rap comes on the heels of Nicki Minaj revealing that her “I’m voting for Romney” lyric was a joke and follows news that Jay-Z and Beyoncé are gearing up for a big fundraiser for President Obama.
All of which means, shock of shocks, Mitt Romney isn’t likely to carry the hip-hop vote in November.
