MTV’s Video Music Awards rocked the Staples Center last night—even though “rock” isn’t really part of MTV these days.
Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, the annual show’s big winners included Rihanna who took home video of the year for her hit “We Found Love,” boy band One Direction for best new artist and best pop video, and Chris Brown took home two Moon Men for best male artist and best choreography.
Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, and Green Day all performed new music but it was Frank Ocean who stole the show, wow’ing the crowd with his hit “Thinkin About You.”
No VMA award show is complete without some kind of controversy. Though it’s no Kanye-Taylor Swift moment, viewers have been wondering about presenter Ke$ha, who appeared inebriated alongside rapper Whiz Kalifa. Maybe nobody told her the after-party starts … after the show.
