Internet supporters of Kim Dotcom have yet another reason to celebrate today after a New Zealand court ruled that ahead of an extradition hearing, the prosecution will need to provide the majority of their evidence to the defense for review.
The founder of Megaupload, a popular file-sharing site, is accused by the FBI of copying and distributing media illegally. But providing documents that detail communications between the FBI and the Recording Industry Associate of America, the prosecution will be giving Dotcom’s defense team more ammunition to make their case ahead of the hearing, scheduled for March.

In recent months, the eccentric millionaire’s lawyers have won a number of battles, from freeing up cash seized during his dramatic arrest earlier this year, to relaxing the terms of his bail. Public support is growing for the Megaupload head at home as well, as evidence mounts suggesting police may have abused their authority on behalf of the FBI.
