New iPhone 5 Presales Rumored To Start Sept. 12

You might want to hold off on buying that new phone a few more weeks—Apple rumor site iMore says you can preorder the iPhone 5 on Sept. 12.

Apple is reportedly holding a Sept. 12 event to unveil a smaller iPad and the iPhone 5, which is rumored to have a smaller charging dock, 4G LTE connectivity, a larger screen and battery. And you will supposedly be able to order the new iPhone on the same day.

Apple’s upcoming presale will come almost a month earlier than the same event for its iPhone 4S. Maybe the company is hoping to get a jump-start on luring in new customers to fight off the competition; according to a new Gartner report, Android is beating Apple handily, its devices making up for 64 percent of the market.

Of course, if Apple can’t win at the store, maybe the tech behemoth can wipe out its competition in the courtroom. The Mac-maker is now resting its case, while Samsung begins its defense against claims that their android phones infringe on the iPhone-maker’s patents.
