Swine Flu Cases Rise in Indiana

Swine flu is on the rise in Indiana, where 113 people are confirmed to be infected and more cases are expected soon.

That’s up from 11 cases last week, all of which are the Influenza A variant of the virus that is transmissible from swine to humans. The good news: No human-to-human passage has been confirmed yet. But Ohio has seen a similar uptick in swine flu cases—double its previous total to 30—and the culprit is believed to be sick pigs at agricultural fairs.

That’s why Indiana closed its swine barn at the state fair one day early after some pigs showed elevated temperatures.
