Mitt Romney has had a no good, very bad week in London, delivering enough gaffes that a visit to the pub might be in order, at least for his adversary Barack Obama.
The GOP candidate’s campaign started trouble with an anonymous adviser raising eyebrows with a comment suggesting he understood better than President Obama the “Anglo-Saxon” heritage shared by America and Britain. Romney—who served as the CEO of the Winter Olympics in 2002—then got into hot water after voicing concern about the London’s security preparations for the games. The comment both angered politicians and got huge play in England’s press.
London’s Mayor Boris Johnson yelled to a crowd in Hyde Park, “There’s a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we are ready!” Prime Minister David Cameron, forced to answer questions in the wake of Romney’s comments, was visibly annoyed.

Then, the former Massachusetts governor mentioned to the press what was supposed to be a quiet meeting with Britain’s head of the MI6 intelligence agency. Romney’s foreign policy trip, taking him to England, Poland, and Israel, was supposed to be a cakewalk. But in the U.K., it’s becoming more of a punch line.
