Michele Bachmann Still Pushing Muslim Brotherhood Conspiracy Despite GOP Disaproval

Is Michelle Bachmann angling for the 2012 Joseph McCarthy Person award?

Despite rising condemnation from within her own party ranks, the Minnesota congresswoman and Tea Party darling is not backing down from her claim that longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin may be part of conspiracy by the radical Muslim Brotherhood to infiltrate the U.S. government.

Bachmann’s former campaign manager Ed Rollins has called her latest stand “downright vicious,” and Sen. John McCain took to the Senate floor to denounce what he called “degrading” and baseless attacks against Abedin.

Bachmann and four other Republicans in Congress have called on federal agencies to investigate a possible conspiracy involving the Muslim Brotherhood, noting that members of Abedin’s family have ties to the radical organization.

Abedin, a Muslim American who is married to disgraced former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner, has worked for Hillary Clinton for over 15 years, which in the mind of Michelle Bachmann qualifies as “probable cause” but is apparently a bridge too far for even Fox News diehards.
