Could it be that while fending off the growing Bain controversy, Mitt Romney forgot to put Sarah Palin’s invite to Tampa in the mail?
The former candidate and Tea Party star—who was chosen over Romney as Sen. John McCain’s running mate in 2008—reportedly has no speaking role in this year’s National Republican convention yet. In fact, the former vice presidential candidate hasn’t even been invited to attend; a dishonor only shared by John Edwards in 2008.
She said she would refrain from inviting herself and a date “to the big dance,” but Palin may do more damage as an absentee than a celebrity in danger of going off script—one possible reason she hasn’t been picked to participate. Will his snub of Palin land Romney in hot water with the Tea Party? Who knows—this week the campaign may announce its VP pick, so we could all forget soon enough about Sarah Palin.
