David Beckham Fails To Make British Olympic Team

Football superstar and modern Adonis David Beckham has failed to make the final roster for the British national team in this summer’s London Olympics.

Beckham, who is currently midfielder for the Los Angeles Galaxy and twice runner-up for FIFA World Player of the Year, was widely expected to make the team as one of three players over the age of 23 allowed to compete, partially due to his advocacy in helping Sebastian Coe secure London’s bid to secure the games in 2005.

Beckham made the shortlist of 35 players, but was left off coach Stuart Pearce’s final 18-man squad.  At age 37 this is most likely one of the superstar’s last chances to represent England internationally, which he has not done since the last of his 115 appearance for his country in 2009. Perhaps it’s karma. The athlete is doing Burger King ads, after all—that’s a long way off from eating your Wheaties.
