A lack of chemistry and the worst stretch of bad ratings in decades are said to be to blame for Ann Curry’s departure from The Today Show. “This is not as I expected to ever leave this couch,” said Curry, who didn’t receive a large sendoff like former hosts Meredith Viera and Katie Couric.
“It’s not goodbye, not by a long shot,” said Matt Lauer as Ann Curry gave a tearful adios to the Today show co-host spot she worked 15 years for as a member of the Today staff.
Officially Curry will now be the “anchor at-large”, reporting on national and international news. Her work is expected to occasionally surface on Today. Expected to replace Curry? NBC’s Savannah Guthrie. While Curry’s groundbreaking reporting career in far off places may now have a better chance to shine, fans—and producers—are likely looking forward to more chemistry and a better Today, tomorrow.
