Michael Jackson’s Death Remembered Three Years Later

It’s been three years since the untimely death of the King of Pop, but his family and fans are insistent on keeping his legacy very much alive.

Speaking to the Independent, Jermaine Jackson said “America has let down Michael,” for not celebrating his brother enough and erecting permanent commemorations for him. He also suggested that the biggest selling artist of all time was at least indirectly responsible for ensuring the election of President Obama in 2008.

His daughter Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson took a more innocuous approach, tweeting “RIP Michael Jackson. Dad you will forever be in my heart I love you.”

Jackson’s mother is also suing concert promoter AEG Live for hiring physician Conrad Murray, who is currently behind bars for his involvement in the singer’s death.

Fans have also flooded the Twitterverse with their own remembrances of the late pop star. Those remembrances will likely continue this week at a karaoke bar near you, though there’s really no substitute for the original.
