Paul McCartney Turns 70

They say it’s your birthday … Paul McCartney.

The iconic Beatles front man has turned 70, and plenty of people are sending the youthful septuagenarian best wishes.

For the man who co-penned classics like “Blackbird,” “Piggies,” and “And Your Bird Can Sing,” PETA made a birthday card from the original Abbey Road album spot. Ringo Starr, the other surviving Beatle, recorded a video message to McCartney singing the Beatles classic, “Birthday.”

Fans are also gathering at McCartney’s Hollywood Walk of Fame block, and concerts are planned in McCartney’s hometown of Liverpool, where he met John Lennon 55 years ago.

Not too far away, McCartney plans on having a smaller celebration in London, perhaps nostalgically looking at the long and winding road that has been his life. Seventy doesn’t seem to be slowing him down, either. McCartney’s next big gig? The opening ceremony for the summer Olympics.
