It may be campaign season, but Jeb Bush is not sticking to the script.

While speaking to Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, the former Florida governor offered praise to President Obama for his approach to fixing education, and suggested Republicans would be willing to raise taxes if this was not an election year.

“There’s going to have to be a grand bargain,” he said. “We are on an unsustainable course.”

Bush held steadfast to the idea that he does not want to be GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s running mate, saying he wasn’t running for Republican office. He also stood up for his big brother, advising President Obama not to place all the blame for the country’s course on the last president.

Bush did say he hasn’t ruled out a presidential run in the future. The question is, after admitting that raising taxes are part of the solution, would he get any Republican votes in 2016?
