Towel Day and Geek Pride Day: Raise Your Pangalactic Gargleblaster in Honor of Douglas Adams

Geeks, rejoice! Even if you don’t know the answer to life, the universe, and everything, May 25 is a day you can enjoy.

Today has the distinction of not only being the seventh annual Geek Pride Day, but the 10th annual Towel Day, as well. Towel Day is a celebration of author Douglas Adams and his sci-fi masterpiece The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where the towel was noted to be “the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” It started in 2001 as a tribute to Adams after his passing and has encouraged his fans to carry around a towel in remembrance. Towelday.org even has a listing of events that are being held worldwide.

So geeks, raise your towels, and pants, in a salute to making uncool the new cool.
