Kentucky Derby Murder Investigation Continues After Race

The Kentucky Derby may have ended, but the attention focused on Churchill Downs this year may be just beginning.

Louisville homicide detectives are investigating the apparent murder of Adan Fabian Perez, 48, whose injured body was found a day after the big annual horse race in Barn No. 8, just four barns away from where Derby winner I’ll Have Another was kept. Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley told ABC News, “We found evidence of injuries that lead us to believe he was involved in an altercation and that foul play was involved.”

Perez, of Guatemala, worked for horse trainer Cecil Borel, brother of veteran jockey Calvin Borel. Authorities are still waiting on an autopsy report to determine the victim’s exact cause of death, and no suspects have yet been named.
