Proving that it’s not just Hollywood who loves a sequel, an Australian billionaire is announcing plans to build the Titanic II.
Filing his comments under “Lessons, Unlearned,” and “Fate, Tempted,” Clive Palmer said his ship would be unsinkable, “designed … with all the technology to ensure that doesn’t happen.” Like the original Titanic, which sank 100 years ago after colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Titanic II will hopefully retrace the route of its namesake from England to North America after it’s completed sometime in 2016.
Rehashing old ideas that went terribly the first time, in the hopes of cashing in on major buzz? It really does sound like the movie industry. Good luck Mr. Palmer—we’ll be interested to see if you can sell any tickets for the trip.
