In truly outrageous music news, soon you may be able to buy tickets to see Tupac Shakur's hologram on tour.
According to Rolling Stone, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are "discussing logistics for a joint tour that would regularly feature the (Tupac) hologram," and may also include other, nonlight-based performers like Eminem and 50 Cent.
El Ulbrich, whose company created the effect for Coachella, told the Wall Street Journal, "This is not archival footage. This is an illusion." Despite being described as a hologram, the virtual Tupac is, in fact, a 2-D image projected to appear as a 3-D effect. The good news for tour promoters? A backstage rider for a hologram is probably pretty Spartan. The bad news for us? It won’t be long now before Ringo and Paul go on an international tour with a holographic George and John.
