Newt Gingrich will spare no expense to continue his quest for the Republican nomination, but he might be paying a heavy price to joust with windmills.

The GOP Candidate, $4.5 million in the hole, has started renting out his precious donor list for $26,000, to try to dig himself out. The move may signal financial desperation—just this week, the campaign bounced a $500 check.

The former house speaker has been in financial trouble before, from his infamous Tiffany’s tab to a taste for private jets that last summer had him owing nearly half a million dollars to—yes—Moby Dick Airways. Insiders say Gingrich and Callista’s appetite for private jet travel and extra security detail and campaign staff continued as the campaign has floundered, only adding to the mountain of debt.

Gingrich campaign representatives say they’ve actually done more with less. We’ll see if donors stay loyal when they start getting calls from people outside Newt’s campaign asking for money.
