If you can’t beat the “lamestream” media and you can’t live without them, join them.

That’s Sarah Palin’s mantra, apparently. The former Alaska Governor has been caught up in the morning show wars, and will co-host NBC’s Today show this week while Katie Couric substitutes for Robin Roberts at ABC’s Good Morning America.

During a phone call that previewed Palin’s appearance, Today show’s Matt Lauer asked Palin if she was reading newspapers to prepare—a joke that recalled Couric’s famous interview with former-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, in which Palin’s vague comments about her media diet drew criticism.

The mama grizzly may be more used to delivering comments to conservative supporters than a broad audience, but her booking suggests a battle royal between two networks vying for morning media attention this week. What will be more fun to watch—Couric’s perky return to the morning, or Palin’s possible train wreck? They report—you decide.
