Pain at the pump may turn into pain at the polls, but politicians aren’t taking criticism of energy policy sitting down.
President Obama is hitting the campaign trail hard this week, visiting power companies to push his “all of the above energy policy.” Speaking in Boulder City, Nev. at a solar facility, the president stressed the importance of alternative fuels, and in New Mexico said he was all for drilling in the United States. Today, he’ll visit a pipeline facility in Oklahoma.
GOP presidential hopefuls have criticized the president’s energy policy as gas prices have risen sharply in the last few months. And with 85 percent of adults in the United States saying the president and congress need to tackle the rising price of gas, they’re not alone.
Granted, polling also shows voters unsure of who or what to blame. But that hasn’t stopped a consistent leak of ire; when a hashtag like #gasstruggle is trending on Twitter, you know it’s going be a sticky issue.
