Bear Grylls’ Discovery Channel Contract Won’t Survive Man vs. Clause Battle

Bear Grylls has finally met his match: A contract dispute the world-renowned survivalist can’t stomach.

The Discovery Channel has terminated the Man vs. Wild star after a six-year run, claiming that Grylls refused to participate in two new projects under development. Grylls’ extreme survival techniques in some of the most remote and rugged terrain on the planet developed quite a fan base over the show’s seven seasons, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell, and Ben Stiller. But his show also drew early criticism for staging stunts and misleading viewers about whether Grylls was truly stranded all alone in certain situations.

A Grylls representative says he hopes to keep making “life-empowering shows.” In the meantime, fans can look forward to reading his memoir, Mud, Sweat and Tears—due out in May. It’s OK Bear, we have faith in your ability to keep finding gross things to eat and ridiculous places to eat them!
