Apple’s Patent Battle With Samsung Spreads to US

Apple’s corporate patent brawl with Samsung has spread to the U.S.

The iPad maker is targeting the latest Galaxy Nexus smartphones by Samsung with a case that alleges four patent violations—including a voice-search function that is similar to Apple’s Siri. Apple has also claimed that the South Korea-based competitor illegally copied iPhone and iPad features and icons; the two companies are currently engaged in over 20 legal fights in at least 10 separate countries, according to Reuters.

Despite it’s corner of the market, Apple may have reason to be concerned: Samsung’s new phone features the latest version of Android, called Ice Cream Sandwich, which many droid users are excited about. And the latest ads for the Samsung phone level a pitch-perfect lampoon of iPhone line-waiters. No wonder Apple is trying to slow the competition.
