MIA’s Middle Finger Causes Another Halftime Network Apology

All it took was one finger to overshadow Madonna's theatrical performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The British singer MIA flipped the bird while performing on Madonna's new single "Give Me All Your Luvin," in front of 110 million viewers. NBC was late to catch the obscenity and immediately apologized to viewers.

During the 2004 half time show Justin Timberlake tore off a piece of Janet Jackson's bustier in a now infamous "warddrobe malfunction," exposing her breast. CBS was fined $550,000 by the FCC in response.

It's unclear what action will be taken after this halftime show, which was attempting to reinvent Madonna as the queen amongst a new crop of pop stars including LMFAO, Nicky Minaj, and Cee Lo Green.

Maybe MIA was just trying to keep things controversial. The Madonna of old would be proud of that.
