Move over Angry Birds … you’re going to have to make some room for natural history.

In what could either be great or terrible news for kids who love Apple products, the tech company has unveiled a digital textbook service that will be tailored for iPads.

The late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was reportedly frustrated with the monopoly traditional educational publishers had on their market, and wanted to offer cheaper education materials that he argued would improve learning.

Apple is far from the first company to offer digital versions of textbooks, but it might be well positioned to do so thanks to its iBooks platform, according to The Wall Street Journal. Along with publishing partners McGraw-Hill and others, the company will make available a new line of iBooks that could potentially revolutionize the textbook with interactive features and faster updates.

There will also reportedly be a self-publishing app and a “GarageBand for textbooks,” which could allow educators to curate their own syllabuses. 

Of course, more schools and students would need to buy iPads for the reported Apple textbook products to really take off. But kids now have another argument for getting that new iPad. Mom, it’s for learning!
