Bernie Madoff may be in prison for the rest of his life, but he sure sounds at peace.
The disgraced financier who set up the largest Ponzi scheme in history told Barbara Walters in an exclusive off-camera interview that he feels safer in jail and that he can live with the anger of the people he defrauded of billions of dollars.
This news comes as Madoff’s wife Ruth gives her first tell-all. In an interview [did it air yet? If not I might say “In an interview with 60 Minutes set to air this Sunday…”] this week with 60 Minutes, Mrs. Madoff reveals that she and her husband attempted suicide by swallowing a bunch of sleeping pills on Christmas Eve in 2008.
The 60 Minutes segment also includes an interview with Madoff’s son, Andrew.
