Julianne Hough is trending as the remake of the beloved ’80s teen-angst-ridden dance movie Footloose comes to theaters.
Hough, of Dancing With the Stars fame, fought for the lead role and won it, just before other names, including the original director Kenny Ortega, started backing out and Paramount put the project on hold. Hough held on through a rewrite and recasting long enough for the project to get back on its feet.
She’s hoping Footloose is the perfect segue to an acting career. She’ll also star in another musical alongside Tom Cruise in the stage-to-movie adaptation of Rock of Ages.
