Amid disappointment that the newest iPhone is not an iPhone 5, Siri is generating buzz after Apple introduced the new iOS service in its iPhone 4S keynote.
This personal-assistant app lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and then some, and it is able to recognize natural language instead of preset commands.
While some are jokingly comparing Siri to HAL 9000, others are marveling at Apple’s foresight in having devised the concept 25 years ago, as evidenced by this 1987 video about something known as Knowledge Navigator.
The craziest part? The vintage video from Apple is set in the year 2011. Siri, can you look up “spooky” for me?
