Pat Robertson has unleashed another humdinger.
In response to a viewer’s question on The 700 Club, the televangelist said it was OK to divorce a spouse who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Robertson then added, “”But make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her.””
When Robertson’s co-host Terry Meeuwsen asked if marriage vows like “”in sickness and in health”” should apply, Robertson went on to explain that Alzheimer’s is a “”kind of death.”
After the awkward exchange, the evangelist conceded that maybe an ethicist should make the call in these situations.
