Twenty years after its release, Point Break is getting a Hollywood reboot, and fans of the original are not happy about it. Ben Heck tweets, “The latest victim to Hollywood’s remake craze?! Point Break. Shhh, don’t tell anyone it was already remade as Fast and the Furious.”
The original Point Break is beloved by fans for its quotable lines, wild action sequences, and Keanu Reeves’ less-than-Oscar-worthy performance alongside Patrick Swayze.
The Point Break remake, written by Salt’s Kurt Wimmer, will replace the world of surfing with action sports, but the majority of the story line will remain close to the original.
Warner Bros. is fast-tracking the project, but no release date has been set.
