Anderson Cooper does daytime. The primetime CNN anchor known for parachuting into breaking news hot zones is doffing his reporter’s hat and exploring his inner Oprah as he kicks off his syndicated talk show this week.
On Anderson, Cooper will eschew weightier topics for more afternoon-friendly fare like Snooki’s tan, Sarah Jessica Parker’s new movie, and an in-depth interview with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In the opening episode, Cooper talks with the father of the recently deceased pop singer Amy Winehouse.
Is his new show journalism? Cooper says maybe not, but it is “storytelling that does resonate with people’s lives.”
