If you want it, come and get it, but you better hurry ‘cause it’s going fast. Hewlett Packard, after announcing the discontinuation of its TouchPad last week, has placed the ill-fated tablet on sale for $99.
The TouchPad, which usually sells for around $500, has been showing up at online outlets at the 80 percent fire sale discount, and as word spreads throughout the Twitterverse the previously unpopular iPad competitor has been flying off the virtual shelves.
But caveat emptor! These bargain-basement tablets are being grabbed up so quickly that they are becoming hard to find.
That’s exactly what Hewlett Packard hoped would happen when it rolled the product out six months ago, though this isn’t quite the outcome the company had in mind.
