Jani Lane Dead at 47; Lead Singer of Warrant Wrote Hit “Cherry Pie” (VIDEO)

Fans of ’80s glam-metal band Warrant are mourning lead singer Jani Lane, who has passed away at 47.

Best known for writing the song “Cherry Pie,” Lane worried the hit single might eclipse everything else he accomplished as a musician. He once told VH1, “Everything about me is ‘Cherry Pie.’ I’m the ‘Cherry Pie’ guy. I could shoot myself in the fucking head for writing that song.”

Lane eventually came to terms with the song, telling metal website Blabbermouth in 2007, “I’m happy as a clam to have written a song that is still being played and still dug by so many people.”

As yet, no cause of death for Lane has been released.
