Roger Clemens is trending on news that the federal judge presiding over his perjury case has declared a mistrial.
The former Major League pitcher was charged with perjury in 2010 after allegedly lying to Congress about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens denies having used drugs and lying to Congress.
This unusual development comes after the prosecution showed a portion of the congressional hearing that conveyed testimony the judge had previously declared inadmissible. Feeling that the information could unfairly taint the jury’s view of Clemens, Judge Reggie Walton declared a mistrial.
