Towering Dust Storm Covers Phoenix (VIDEO)

Phoenix is trending after a massive dust storm blanketed central Arizona and its capital city.

The towering dust cloud originated in Tucson before traveling north across the desert. At times, the storm’s wall reached as high as 8,000 to 10,000 feet.

When it hit Phoenix, the enormous cloud was roughly 50 miles wide. Unsurprisingly, flights were canceled and power outages spread through the city.

Dust storms can be caused by high winds and drought, with some of the most notable examples having occurred in the 1930’s during the Dust Bowl in North America.
