Theidea for Flag Day is attributed to BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher from Wisconsinwho organized his students on June 14, 1885, to celebrate the "Flag Birthday."
Theconcept spread until President Woodrow Wilson officially established theholiday in 1916.
