McDonald’s has been seriously punked.
A Twitter post this past weekend has put the Golden Arches on the defensive. A photograph, which turned out to be a hoax, published under the hashtag #seriouslymacdonalds showed a sign taped to the window of a McDonald’s restaurant stating that the fast-food chain is now charging black people a $1.50 transaction fee “as an insurance measure due in part to a recent string of robberies.”
The sign listed an 800 number to call: the Customer Satisfaction Hotline for Kentucky Fried Chicken, one of McDonald’s fast-food rivals.
McDonald’s called the picture a “senseless and ignorant hoax” and the hashtag has since been removed from Twitter.
