Say goodbye to the food pyramid; say hello toMyPlate. The USDA is scrapping the decades-old nutrition guide in favor of anew icon shaped ... like a plate. First Lady Michelle Obama, whose Let's Movecampaign is aimed at fighting obesity, helped unveil the new design.

The original U.S. food pyramid appeared in 1992, and a moreconfusing, prismatic update was released in 2005. Nutritionists have longlamented the counterintuitive nature of the pyramid, particularly the fact thatsugars and sweets appeared at the top.
