Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly have the Web riled up after theirverbal bout over the White House's invitation to rapper Common to performpoetry. Stewart went on Fox News to point out the "selective outrage"Fox News often pedals when it fits a "narrative that suits them."
O'Reilly and other Fox News pundits had protested Common'sinvitation because the rapper defended convicted cop killer Assata Shakurin one of his songs. Stewart invoked the names of three other music superstars-Bono, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan- who had at one point defended convicted cop killers in theirmusic and had been invited to the White house without any controversy.
This isn't the first time Stewart and O'Reilly have debated. Somemight remember that on Stewart's first appearance on The O'Reilly Factor in 2004 he was tasked with defending hisaudience, whom O'Reilly had called left-leaning "stoned slackers."
