The Chromebook is finally here.Taking a page from Apple’s playbook, Google announced its Web-based operatingsystem with a tongue-in-cheek animation.
The first Chromebook laptops from Samsung and Acer, which effectively relegatecomputing to the Cloud, promise a daylong battery life; optional 3G; and theability to take your movies, music, and games anywhere and everywhere-as longas you have a Web connection.
Google calls it “a stateless machine.” Skeptics wonder if the Chromebook willget lost in a world where tablets are on the rise.
