Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai won the men’s race at the 115 th Boston Marathon, clocking the 26.2 miles in a record-breaking 2:03:02. He andhis fellow countryman Moses Mosop pulled away from the pack and finished withinseconds of each other, both smashing the record set in last year’s race byRobert Kiprono Cheruiyot. The top American finisher was Ryan Hall, whocompleted the race almost two minutes after Mutai but still managed to beatlast year’s record.
A Kenyan also won the women’s race: Caroline Kilel crossedthe finish line at 2:22:36.
