Billionaire Richard Branson is trending after unveiling his new deep-sea submarine.
Having already launched a successful commercial venture into space with Virgin Galactic, Branson aims to explore the deepest points in each of the world’s five oceans with Virgin Oceanic.
This is a first for explorers, notes Branson: “More men have been to the moon than have been down further than 20,000 feet.” The sub, which seats one and can record high-definition video of never-before-seen marine life, is scheduled to dive down to the 36,201-foot depths of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific later this year.
