Katie Couric is trending on fresh reports that she’s leaving the
CBS Evening News
. Couric became the first woman to solo anchor a network evening news program in 2006 after a 15-year run on NBC’s
Today Show
.
She made waves with a series of
during the 2008 presidential campaign. But her CBS ratings never lived up to her $15 million salary, as she regularly trailed Brian Williams at NBC and Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer at ABC.
Couric is said to be in talks with multiple networks about launching her own syndicated talk show. Her CBS News contract expires in June.
