In the wake of a the worst earthquake ever measured in Japan, tsunami waves flooded coastal areas, washing away cars, roads and homes.
The killer waves rushed as far as 6 miles inland. Hundreds have been killed and hundreds are still missing.
The epicenter of the 8.9 earthquake was about 230 miles north of Tokyo. Tsunami warnings were issued in Hawaii and along the west coast of the United States, but so far no significant coastal damage has been reported outside of Japan.
