Tennis superstar Serena Williams is trending after undergoing emergency treatment for a pulmonary embolism. According to
People
magazine, Williams was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to treat a blood clot in her lungs. The 29-year-old former top-ranked women’s tennis player had come to Los Angeles to attend Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party. Williams has been sidelined from tennis since cutting her foot in a freak accident at a German restaurant last July. There’s no word on how this lung condition might affect her plans to return to the court in May for the 2011 French Open.
