Keith Olbermann’s hiatus from prime time is ending. The former host of MSNBC’s
Countdown
is joining
. Olbermann has agreed to anchor a nightly news and commentary show on Al Gore’s ratings-challenged cable network, which is available in only 60 million homes. Former Vice President Gore says Olbermann’s hiring kicks off plans to build a commentary programming block in prime time. Olbermann says Current TV is "not only the leading independent network, it’s the only one." Translation: The man who generated plenty of controversy for his "Worst Person in the World" segment looks forward to having even more freedom to speak his mind than he had during his eight years at MSNBC.
